The trustees of the Lenivan Foundation (a Foundation of Underwriting Africa Specialty Limited) wish to extend our sincere gratitude to NFG SA for your generous contribution of USD 5,000 (United States Dollars Five Thousand) to support its annual Christmas school shoe campaign dabbed “A Christmas gift that changes lives – will you help us reach 500 children.” Your generous support went a long way in ensuring young children between the ages of 3 years up to 18 years had a decent pair of shoes with a total of 300 shoes delivered.
About Lenivan Foundation
The name Lenivan reflects the heart of our work: transforming adversity into strength and pain into purpose. Fully supported by Underwriting Africa Specialty (UAS), a privately owned Pan African Specialty that is female owned and female run. UAS is a dynamic organization impacting trade insurance across 23 countries in Africa.
Our scholars learned that Lenivan, a symbol of forceful leadership defined by empathy, is inspired by the courage and compassion.
At its core, the name speaks directly to our beneficiaries, a reminder that their background is not a disadvantage, but a source of power. Like reeds plucked from the fire, they are not defined by what they have survived, but by what they are becoming: strong, gracious, and unshakably bold.
The Impact Outlook
The combined support of UAS and NFG SA, means that in 2025 the Lenivan Foundation was able to demonstrate tangible impact across different initiatives. These currently include.
- 5 students fully sponsored in local universities
- 54 fully supported scholars in High school.
- 35 scholars that are benefiting from peer-to-peer mentorship program.
- 10 number of primary school students who access all meals under the “happy plates initiative’’
- Over 300 pairs of shoes distributed in the annual Christmas shoe campaign
Outlook
Our commitment in 2026, is to raise up to US$ 350,000 from US$ 76,000 in 2025 (UAS commitment was US$71,115 which was not fully utilized). This ambitious goal is aimed at addressing the education gap and large number of scholars who meet the program qualifications and as well buffer and increase from 10 to 100 numbers of students who access meals and address the mental health needs that are hidden, but still contributes to dire consequences affecting young people. Included in this goal is to support Sprouting Again Orphanage to establish a kindergarten and primary school as this will help in reducing the costs of sending children from the orphanage to school and establish a sustainable source of income as it will also incorporate pupils from the neighbourhood. This goal still requires more corporate donors and volunteers.
Conclusion
As we reflect and implement our 10-year milestone in 2026, we are humbled of the impact we have achieved in partnership with the scholars, schools, children’s homes, volunteers, suppliers and stakeholders who work with us, and remain committed to steadily grow our reach within the communities we serve.
The success of Lenivan foundation is not just a reflection of our programs, it reflects the hearts, hands, and generosity of our partners.
